Art may be defined as a single-minded attempt to render the highest kind of justice to the visible universe.
It is an attempt to find in its forms, in its colors,
in its light, in its shadows- what is fundamental,
what is enduring and what is essential.
There exists a stark difference between the form
and the feeling of a work of art. Whether its creator was or was not prompted by feelings of social, political, religious, or ethical importance does
indeed alter its relevance. If a feeling, beneficial
or harmful, is diffused by the infectiousness of its form it is a work of art.
An artwork has a one-time quality, an intrinsic style that cannot be perfectly duplicated, even by the person who created it. An artwork produced purely as a product of joy is a reminder of joy, as well as a spontaneous imprint of the mind that conceived it. |
