Theyskens' Theory

Oliver Theyskens' 2013 designs are the basic underlying staple of a sleek modern woman: forward, defiant, and provocative. The era of women wearing men's clothing as well as her own has resurged as Theyskens' women strut down the runway defying failure and embracing both their femininity and feminist qualities. These qualities reminded me of a young Amelia Earhart pursuing her way in a man's world, taking on untold dreams and pursuing them with a vengeance. Earhart believed "adventure is worthwhile in itself" and I couldn't agree more.

Staying true to New York's standard uniform, Theyskens drew upon
the characteristic line of what's black, white, and shaded in-between
to create his fundamental look, while incorporating other shades inspired by the deep sea. The girls one by one tossed on a detailed fitted sports coats paired with high waisted pants. Shift dresses, shirt dresses,
and a couple of jewelneck halters balanced out the masculine influence, while boxy-but-floaty cropped drop-shouldered jackets provided a platform for showing off texture and textile details.

This collection was designed for the industrious woman of the 21st century, leaving room for the imagination, alluding to mystery and intrigue.
Women of intimidation can speak volumes to the masses as they pursue their way to the top leaving no prisoners behind. As we approach our dreams,
let us dress to embody our fierce, forward, and fashionable inner selves.
